Darko Motik was born in february 5th 1966. In 1992 he graduated at Wood Technology Department at the Faculty of Forestry University of Zagreb. He completed Postgraduate studies at Department of Wood Technology at the Faculty of Forestry, course Production organization. In January 1996 he defended his Master thesis entitled ‘Research of influence lifetime of characteristic products in the furniture industry’. In December 1999 he defended his Dissertation entitled ‘Models of product and production programs planning in the furniture industry’, also at the Faculty of Forestry in Zagreb.

The area of his scientific and research work is related to market of wood products, product and production programs planning and the economic problematic related to wood industry companies. During his work at the University he published 120 scientific and 30 professional articles. He was elected as vice-dean for scientific research at the Faculty of Forestry – University of Zagreb for mandate period from 2006 to 2008.

In the past Darko Motik was mentor over 5 defended PhD thesis, and one more PhD thesis in the process of finalization.

He was the leader of 3 national scientific project, he participated as researcher on 2 international scientific projects and 3 national scientific projects.

Appointed for UNECE/FAO expert team and the Team of Specialists on Forests Products Markets and Marketing (2004-2014)

Member of Editorial Board of scientific journal Drvna industrija (2007-2015)

President of international scientific association WoodEMA i.a. (2012-2014)
